****************FIRE DANGER CHANGE: VERY HIGH*************
Monday, August 1, 2022, The Kootenai National Forest Fire Danger is now VERY HIGH. Please be aware of changing conditions out in the Forest. When the fire danger is "very high", fires will start easily from most causes. Fires will spread rapidly and quickly increase in intensity, right after ignition. Small fires can quickly become large fires and exhibit extreme fire intensity, such as long-distance spotting. These fires can be difficult to control and will often become much larger and longer-lasting fires.
Please be aware of changing conditions out in the Forest. Take precautions and do your part to prevent wildfires.
