The Montana Department of Commerce has given 20 Montana companies Workforce Recovery grants.
The grants will be used to rehire staffers that were laid off due to the economic results of the COVID-19 crisis.
The businesses will get $895,000 to rehire up to 152 full-time employees.
“Commerce launched the temporary Workforce Recovery program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support businesses that are ready to rehire workers,” said Wayne Johnston, Business Assistance Bureau chief at commerce, in a press release. “This program is reimbursing businesses across Montana for rebuilding their workforce and bringing jobs back.”
The Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund Workforce Recovery program is the program that made the grants possible. The program will reimburse companies for the salaries of full-time, permanent employees.
The jobs will be created and maintained for at least six months. That is a maximum of 25 jobs per company. Reimbursement in high-poverty counties will get $7,500 per job. The company must match at least $3,750 per job.
