Missoula’s Mountain Line mill levy increase for the Missoula Urban Transportation District (MUTD) passed in the recent election with strong voter approval, with 60% votes in favor of the increase to 40% against it.
The levy, which the American Public Transportation Association included in a list of some of the biggest transportation-related votes during the election, will go from approximately $47 per every $100,000 of property value to approximately $74 per every $100,000 of property value, according to coverage by the Missoula Current.
The levy is projected to raise approximately $3 million annually, according to the Current. The extra funding is intended to assist the MUTD to expand current weekday service while adding Sunday service, as well as increasing the frequency of busses on popular routes.
Additionally, MUTD intends to put some of the funding toward the effort to have an all-electric fleet by 2035, according to the Current.
