The Montana Revenue Interim Committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 19 in Room 317 of the Capitol building and on Zoom beginning at 10 a.m. in an effort to choose an income estimate for presentation to the 2019 Legislature.
The revenue estimate is an approximation of general fund revenue and selected fund revenue for fiscal years 2021, 2022 and 2023, according to a state press release.
Revenues are estimated by source. They are also estimated by significant assumptions as well. The revenue estimate is used for securing the budget and making sure it is balanced, which is required by the Constitution.
The Legislative Fiscal Division and the Governor's Office of Budget and Program Planning will team up to present independent income estimates to the Revenue Interim Committee.
After receiving the estimated data, taking public comments and analyzing the data received, the committee will review which figures to use in the revenue estimate.
