Raising an estimated $451 million, the University of Montana’s "Campaign Montana – Think Big. Be Bold." recently concluded the single most successful fundraising campaign for higher education in Montana history.

Approximately 34,000 donors contributed to the campaign, according to a University of Montana news release. The campaign more than exceeded the original $320 million goal set by the university when the campaign began in July 2013 with a “quiet phase.”

In October 2018, as the campaign went public, the university announced a new goal of $400 million, which donors again surpassed, according to the release. Even the “aspirational goal” of $440 million was more than met by donations.

“The record-setting gifts received during Campaign Montana already have had big impacts for UM and our students and will continue to impact them for decades to come,” Seth Bodnar, University of Montana president, said in the release. “Supporters from across the globe responded to the aspirations reflected in Campaign Montana, and their generous contributions have provided critical momentum toward our trajectory to be a Flagship for the Future.”
