The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners announced on March 10 that it will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 25, at 11:15 AM in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Libby, Montana. The purpose of the hearing is to consider Resolution 2026-10, which would rescind a previously adopted resolution authorizing a Special Purpose District Election for the Libby Park District.
This matter is significant because the Libby Park District has informed Lincoln County that it no longer wishes to proceed with the planned election. As a result, county officials are considering whether to formally withdraw authorization for the vote.
According to the notice, all interested persons will have an opportunity to appear and be heard regarding the proposed resolution. Written comments can also be submitted by mail or email prior to the hearing. A copy of Resolution 2026-10 is available for public inspection at the Lincoln County Clerk and Recorder’s Office or on the county’s website.
The draft resolution states: “Resolution 2026-07 Authorize Running the Special Purpose District Election is hereby rescinded in its entirety.” It further notes that if any provision of this new resolution conflicts with previous resolutions, this one will prevail. The document also clarifies that its sections are severable so that if any part is found invalid, other parts remain effective.
Brent Teske, Chairperson of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners, signed off on presenting this resolution for consideration. The final decision will be entered into official minutes and signed by Teske once adopted.
The outcome of this hearing could affect future governance and planning for special district elections within Lincoln County.
